FreeWheelers Chapter
Mount Shasta, California / September 10-12

Lake Siskiyou Camp Resort. You will find opportunities this weekend for a variety of recreational activities, from the relaxing to the strenuous. Lake Siskiyou, 430 acres, is perfect for boating, fishing or kayaking, and nearby is Crystal Lake, a 47-acre granite-rockbound lake with hiking trails offering stunning views.

Others may want to chase a little dimpled white ball on the green. McCloud Golf Course is a 9-hole course approximately 14 miles away offering an inexpensive play while enjoying the views of Mt. Shasta. For those who take their golf a little more seriously, there is an 18-hole golf course minutes from our campground. For more information, visit www.mountshastaresort.com.

Mt. Shasta Fish Hatchery is also nearby. It is the oldest, still-operating fish hatchery west of the Mississippi.

The nearby town of Mt. Shasta is charming, a nice place to walk around and explore. Check out these two websites to find more reasons why we love this area: www.visitsiskiyou.org and www.shastahome.org.

Our agenda will include campfires, so bring snacks to share, a chair and wood. For our Friday evening meet and greet, bring your favorite salsa—your rally hosts will provide chips and bean dip. Saturday will be free for exploring the area or hanging out at camp. Our Saturday evening potluck will have a Mexican theme. We will be making fresh Sangria and will follow dinner with some piñata fun. We will finish the weekend with a Sunday morning bagels and coffee get-together.

Campsites are $31.32/night for full hookups. There is an additional fee for boats. More information about this campground is available at www.lakesis.com.
Kristie Nunes and Chadlynn Trafton are rally hosts for this event. For rally information, email knctroxy@yahoo.com. The registration deadline is July 15 and only 25 sites were reserved, so check first to find out if space is still available. Send your registration and check to Kristie Nunes, 2060 Marilyn Drive, Chico CA 95928.

Directions: From I-5 north, take the Central Mt. Shasta exit. Turn left. Continue to the stop sign at Old Stage Road. Turn left and go approximately 1/4 mile to a fork in the road. Stay right. At the stop sign continue forward, which is now W.A. Barr Road. Go Past the golf course and over the dam 1.5 miles to Lake Siskiyou Camp Resort. Check in at the front gate.

Ohio River Valley Chapter
Loogootee, Indiana / September 16-19

West Boggs Park. This scenic area was so popular last year, we decided to stay here again. We will be camping in the Red Fox campground, which is located on a point surrounded by West Boggs Lake. The park adjoins the West Boggs Golf Course, and within a short drive are Blue Spring Caverns, French Lick Casino and Spring Mill State Park. West Boggs has a swimming beach (may be closed at this time of year), boat launch (bring your own boat) and hiking trails.

Rally activities will include an outdoor cooking demonstration and a visit to the pioneer village at Spring Mill State Park.

Campsites are $33/night for water/electric hookups. Most campsites are 30-amp, but a few 50-amp sites are available. A dump station is nearby. Pets are welcome if kept on a leash. Reservations require full payment, and credit cards are accepted. Call (812) 295-3421 to reserve a site in the Red Fox campground. Do not register online, as they cannot guarantee that your campsite will be located with the group. As those who signed up late last year know, after the Red Fox sites are gone, the only sites available are up on a hill with no possibility of getting your rig level. In addition, there may be a fishing tournament that weekend, so we really need to get our reservations in early.

Please also RSVP to rally host Linda Elliott at elliottbear2@aol.com or 317 244-8971.
